So, I had some trouble sleeping last night - not sure why. It's the first night that my thoughts have kept me up. My bodies timer is still set to wake up at 5:50 am aka 3:50 am Utah time. yikes. As I laid in bed and pondered I realized something or, everything if you will. It all came together and I now know why I'm in Ecuador, my prayers were finally answered. It will be extremely hard to explain that part of it though, I just realized that every decision I made or didn't make led me to be here, Heavenly Father knew I needed this. Thats why so many of my prayers went "unanswered." I feel so blessed to have this opportunity, and I truly can say this is the happiest I've ever been. Everything that ever had me feeling down, stressed, sad, mad, or just plain angry is so insignificant. Life is so short, and we are such blessed people. We should be as happy as life permits. I get frustrated because I have so much that I took for granted and that I let so much get to me that shouldn't have. These little kids are teaching me quite possibly the most vital lesson in life.
On a much lighter note, I had a grand day. I spent it with the good children of Ecuador - they are SO cute! have I mentioned that? I spent the morning at Santa Lucia, it's a residence for girls with a rough background that have been taken out of their homes. (ages 8-15) It was a change of pace because I'm used to hanging out with the babes that speak about the same amount of spanish as myself but they were precious. We brought them glass beads and strings to make bracelets, and necklaces. They were so excited, and they just loved to have a few more girls to hang out with. We then jumped rope for a good 30 minutes, I forgot how much fun it is! Then they taught me the Ecuadorian version of rock, paper, scissors. which might I add, is much better than the American way. They also taught me how to do this little clap dance that all the girls do. We then said our goodbyes, we went home, went on a 20 minute run. It was the first time I ran here.. at 9200 feet. It's a lot harder than it sounds. We then ran on home to enjoy our Ecuadorian lunch that Betty prepared. In the afternoon we went to another orphanage where we brought stuff to make hats out of construction paper, stamps, and stickers. We then played in the little park and I pushed the girls on the swings for a good 30 minutes, it was so much fun. wonderful day indeed.
