feliz ano nuevo

So, here in Ecuador they have super cool traditions for the new year. Definitely not like anything I've experienced or expected. So, the males dress up as females and dance around on the street collecting money, and children stand on the roads and hold up this rope on the street when you drive by so you have to stop and give them candy or money. It's kind of comparable to our Halloween, they have this huge party in the city. Our group went into the city but parked behind the church gate and walked, it was pure craziness. Another tradition is you buy a doll like one of these:

and you catch it on fire in the street and then jump over it and when you do so they believe its you letting go of your bad habits from the passed year. So, after leaving the city we went back to the house, turned on music, lit fireworks, and at midnight we caught our little dolls on fire and jumped over them. I also wrote in my journal seven new years resolutions and I am going to succeed in them if it kills me. Hope y'all had a beautiful new years!

ps. all my internet adds on the sides of my webpages are in spanish, i love it.
